EDIT 4100 Fall 2024 - Blog for ISTE & Educational Technologies

EDIT 4100 Fall 2024 - ISTE & Educational Technologies Blog

For the blog posts, you will explore and write a synopsis of ISTE standards for learners and educational technologies. Your blog posts may address how some of these technologies could be used in different educational settings and how they can be used to address various gaps in education like equity, access, and availability of technology resources in different schools/colleges.

The blog post or responses has to include:

- a summary of the ISTE standards for learners (what is the ISTE standard for learners you are

blogging about, and which aspect did you decide to write about?)

- choose a “free technology, web-based technology, or free mobile/tablet app” from the

website https://www.commonsense.org/. Think about how the technologies and the ISTE standards

for learners can be applied together in a learning context.

- Mention two to three learning activities with the selected educational technologies and ISTE

standards for learners.

Submit your post to blogger.com with your group’s name and blog post number.

Below are some of the technologies mentioned that are free and can be used without paying anything. You can also use another online technology of your choosing. There are a few conditions; it should be free, easily accessible, and available to you and your future students.

  • Create a Video with a Video creator: You have three options. Please consider if they are free, easy, and accessible for you and your students.

    • You can use Animoto: https://animoto.com/. Make sure that it is the free version.

    • You can also create videos with your iPhone and edit them with iMovie on your phones and computers. Save it as a link (or, if possible, in an mp4 format) and then submit the link or upload it to Canvas week 9.

    • You can look at Moovly to create a video. Check the free online technology for students:https://www.moovly.com/students

    • There is a 4th option for videos. Again, make sure that this version is free. It is called Powtoon: https://www.powtoon.com/account/edu-signup/

  • Create a Podcast for free with Podomatic: https://www.podomatic.com/ You can also use other podcast technologies (Garageband and iPhone have the option with an iPhone App). Remember it should be free and easily accessible to you (and your future students).

  • Create a blog post: You can use www.blogger.com or any other online/app-based blogging tool.

  • Choose Padlet Wall (padlet.com) to create a content wall with images, audio, and videos. Please choose the free version. www.padlet.com

Choose any other technology you can use to convey your understanding of “ISTE and technologies” in education and submit your blog post.
